European-style palaces in the Yuanmingyuan
Giuseppe Castiglione, a Jesuit lay brother, was court artist and architect to the Qianlong emperor. Castiglione designed the European-style palaces in the Yuanmingyuan, the Qing Summer Palace just outside Beijing.
Fine porcelain vase
The Qianlong emperor in particular admired European art; here is a fine porcelain vase with French style decoration.
